All about iOS 14
Apple launches a big new ios upgrade for the iPhone each year. The update is called iOS 14 for 2020. During its World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June Apple previewed several of the new features that we can expect to come with iOS 14. Here we are immersing ourselves in what a working iPhone will do when the app comes in.
When will iOS 14 be released?
We have no confirmed release date for iOS 14 yet — Apple leaves the detail pretty close to the chest. Though looking from previous iOS updates, you can expect a full version of iOS 14 to appear some time in the fall, at the same time as Apple pulls off the covers off the new iPhones. You would usually estimate early to mid-September for that date and be fairly right, but with the arrival of the iPhone 12, things are up in the air.
However the first developer beta of iOS 14 was launched straight after the WWDC keynote. If you’re an app developer you can join Apple’s beta programme and give it a try.

iOS 14 new features
Craig Federighi and associates revealed a series of major new capabilities for iOS, speaking for almost half an hour without any applaud breaks. We are excited about these major improvements, so let’s dig into them.
Widgets
Perhaps one of the coolest customization on the home screen is a widget stack. Previously, Widgets were only visible on the Today tab, but with iOS 14, new Widgets can include timely updates at a glance and you will be able to pin them in various sizes on every home screen page.
APP Library
The App Library is a new space at the end of your Home Screen pages that automatically organizes all of your apps into one simple, easy‑to‑navigate view. App Library is an easy and modern way to manage the apps. You will now navigate a single screen instead of flipping across several pages, which conveniently arranges the devices according to smart categories: Music, Health & Exercise, Social and Apple Arcade were among those included in the demo.
A New Siri
Siri has an all-new lightweight interface that lets you connect to on-screen details and start your next mission effortlessly. Siri pops up at the bottom of the screen while you start a request. The effect is like a message showing at the top of the page. Data were revised to provide you with only the details you need in a modern streamlined interface. Siri will also help you find answers to a wider variety of questions using information from across the internet, meaning you can get answers without having to browse the internet.
App Clip
A modern way to discover apps. The App Clip is a particular component of an app that can be found at the time you need it that is targeted for a specific mission. Companies may deliver App Clips for use in different circumstances, depending on their current apps. For example, on a web page, an icon may show up selling an App Clip that encourages you to buy a product but does not bind you to the majority of the data and functionality on the full app. Perhaps there could be a button on a parking space that leads you to a stripped-down version of an app that helps you to pay for parking.
New Translate app
The updated Translate app features a few modes. You will let it translate terms and phrases in a vertical position as well as show the meaning of such terms. This enters dialogue mode as you flip it into landscape, allowing each speaker to have half the screen with their language displayed. You can also let the full-screen App show the translation or say it for you.
Picture-in-picture
Mobile screens get too large, you ‘d think Apple’s launched a picture-in — picture video app on iOS 12 or 13. The company is now keeping pace with the times, luckily. When you’re in other applications on iOS 14, you’ll be able to watch video and the interface to do so is very smart. Videos sit on the side of the window in tabs that can be pulled out or tucked back in depending on where you want to show them. You can also rotate images, which is very helpful if you are working on a job that takes much of your show real estate available.
